Dounby Surgery
We are now very settled in the new surgery and it is difficult to believe we have been here for as long as we have now.

The old premises had been sold by the Health Board to the local council and now they've discovered it will cost too much to convert it to flats as originally planned. Now it is to be sold again. It would have been nice to think that the old building would be put to good use after lying empty for so long, but it hasn't happened yet.

This plaque stands on the grass verge outside the surgery.

Engraved, in Orkney sandstone, by local sculptor, Francis Pelly,
it was presented to the surgery by a former Partner, Liza Stuart.
Our Surgery is located right in the heart of Dounby Villlage, at the crossroads and forms a wing of the Smiddybrae Care Home.

We are just across the road from the Dounby Co-op and Dounby Butchers.

The Smithfield Hotel and local school - Dounby Primary stand on adjacent wings of the crossroads. The school is also home to the Dounby Community Centre
