Repeat Prescriptions

We are no longer taking repeat prescription requests on our main surgery telephone number. This is to reduce the volume of calls to make it easier for patients phoning for appointments, advice or in urgent need of help to get through.

Repeat prescriptions can be requested online via our website or by using the repeat prescription hotline on 771886. Please do not bring your repeat prescription request slips into the practice.

Please allow 7 days before collecting from the pharmacy.

STAFF TRAINING & MEETINGS

It is extremely important in these days of continual change that all staff members are kept up to date with what is expected of them, we therefore endeavour to have a regular monthly meeting and staff training.  Dounby Surgery will therefore be closed on the following Wednesday afternoons:

All Public Holidays are classed as Out of Hours which means they are covered by NHS24

Prescriptions

We dispense emergency and urgent medication when needed, but all routine medication comes from one of the two Kirkwall pharmacies. Patients can choose either Boots or Sutherlands.

We ask that patients order medication 7-14 days before it is required to allow for sufficient time for the medication to arrive.

You will be contacted when the medication arrives. We are currently operating an appointment system for collecting medication. Please do not attend without an appointment. If you are collecting medication for someone other than yourself, or for more than one person, please let us know when you book the appointment.

Different arrangements are made for patients on Egilsay, Wyre and Gairsay, and will be communicated at the time of ordering.
